Grateful to my mother today for discovering the name of a former inhabitant of this farm. I call it a farm even though we are still resurrecting it. I love the name.
So here’s a love note to the past…
Dear Mary Nell, I wanted to thank you for planting the flowers and trees here at this place that I live in now…the home you lived in and cared for many, many years. The Irises are beautiful, and I must admit I didn’t even know what they were until they bloomed. I especially love the dark reddish colored petals and the light that shines through them at every sunset at the close of the day. Thank you. ~
Your friend through time,
Julie

I was quite saddened to hear of Aunt Nelle’s passing. I will always remember her for her quick and contagious laugh, beautiful flowers, hardy green thumb, benevolent heart, quilt stitchery and for being an exemplary Southern cook like the Chapman girls have been known for. During her 93 years, Aunt Nelle’s life blessed many – I am just one. I pray that the family’s loss is lightened by distinct and clear memories of the times joy was shared, funny moments and reminders of the great gain Aunt Nelle’s life brought to all who knew her. Know that I share in your pain during this time.
Much love,
